On The Road: Jamba Juice

This is a sponsored post written by me on behalf of Jamba Juice for IZEA. All opinions are 100% mine.
It's easy to have autonomy on what you eat... until you get on the road. Living in the DC area can be challenging at times with long car trips, being stuck in traffic, and sacrificing your taste buds when you get "hangry" after being on the road all day. I've been trying to work on eating healthier as this Dining Traveler has packed on a few pounds as last year was filled with life changes. I love to make smoothies at home (my favorite mango and coconut milk). Also, I recently bought a juicer and started experimenting with fresh fruits and veggies.

My healthy road companion and I!
Foodie on the Road: What happens when you're on a hour car trip, have a work meeting, temptation kicks in, and you have no time to make something healthy for yourself? What happens when you're on a long road trip and you start getting bored and hungry? I'll be honest. I sometimes succumb to eating foods that are just not good for me. Recently, I was on a local trip to Quantico for work and was relieved to know there was a Jamba Juice on site to cure my hunger pangs (and guilt) before heading back on the road to Washington, DC.

The experience: I went to the Jamba Juice at Quantico, VA. at the food court of the Marine Corps Base Exchange. I was in the area for work and headed there for a pick me up before getting back on the road to Washington, DC. The girl at the counter was very friendly, I even accidentally left a bag behind and was there waiting for me when I returned after 15 minutes to get it. Sometimes we think we think healthy items take too long to prepare but from order to drink on hand, the process took five minutes.

What I ordered: I was impressed with the large selection of Fresh Squeezed Juices and smoothies given the small location, which made it hard to decide. The carrot cayenne and citrus kick looked very tempting but I decided for the berry juice. I was asked if I wanted a "boost" on my drink and choose to have chia seeds. I love how chia seeds keeps me full for a long time, especially if I'm on the road for extended period. The chia seeds added body to the drink which had the perfect balance of sweet and tart of the berries. I was full for several hours!

The verdict: I'm usually not a fan of chain food establishments as everything seems to be so processed, however, I was able to see at Jamba Juice what exactly went into my juice, which I truly like. As a traveler who loves food, I was happy to see that there are also locations at Union Station, Baltimore Airport, and Philadelphia Airport. Find Your Closest Store! It makes it much easier to have delicious and healthy snack while on the road.

Giveaway: Congrats to Morgan Fykes who won a $20 gift card to Jamba Juice by sharing which Fresh Juice flavor she wanted to try.
